Ospreys home fortress overrun by H4H military

The Ospreys run of home games undefeated at Llandarcy came to an end today when they welcomed a military team from Help for Heroes. The team made up from some of the Gold medal winning Invictus Games squad came to Wales for a return game after a recent beating at the BT Wheelchair Rugby National Games where they were soundly out played by an Ospreys team.

After firstly being entertained by the fantastic voices of the Ospreys Supporters Choir, the teams were introduced to a packed hall of very vocal support which included the recently formed youth team.

The whistle was blown and the tip off was won by H4H's Charlie Walker who sent Stuart Robinson in for the opening points, the Ospreys team were instantly put under pressure by the H4H team who in their last encounter were rather slow to react to our speedster David Anthony. From the start it was beginning to dawn on our team that there was going to be no let up, and at the end of the first quarter the score was 14 - 8 to the H4H team. The start of the second quarter saw the same relentless pressure put on us and with David Anthony getting more isolated it fell to our shy retiring Richard Vowles and the hard work of our slower players to step up and show how to control play and score the points. (end of 2nd quarter 27 - 17 to the H4H team) The third quarter saw a lot of hard work being put in by our team who were constantly put under pressure and with the added disadvantage of no coach for the game, they were beginning to get frustrated and the keen eyed referee soon caught David Anthony for a contact foul placing him in the sin bin for 1 minute. (score 32 - 24 to H4H team)

The last quarter and the H4H coach (our very own Paul Jenkins) played an untested line up against us which gave us the chance to show the crowd what we can do and get back some hard earned points and make the score a more respectable 43 - 38 to the H4H team.

A fantastic effort was given by ALL and a big thank you has to go to the support staff, Officials, Supporters Choir and ALL those who came to show their support for our Ospreys Team.
