SS3 LEAGUE REPORT 2015

This Supper Series we took a team of Five players for our last outing before the National games in May at the Copper Box.

Our opening game was against The West Country Hawks who have been steadily improving series by series, this gave us a chance to practice a number of things that needed working on for our next game. We ran out comfortable winners against the Hawks and had a one hour turn around for our next game.

Our second game of the weekend was against the Sharks from Southampton, a formidable team who because of where he lives had poached one Aaron Phipps from us some time ago. The game started quite evenly as Aaron was settling in after returning from some major surgery, however once he had warmed up lead his team to an unassailable lead by the third quarter when some of our team seemed to loose interest and the Sharks ran out deserved winners and went onto be joint winners of the league.

Our next two games of the weekend were against two teams that have I think its fare to say found this season hard going. Firstly the Caledonian Crushers from Scotland were over whelmed by us, and then there was the Hammerheads Southampton's 'B' team. Who the Hawks humiliated by 70 - 0. Unfortunately we could not make our side week enough to give these guys a fighting chance however we donated our team time outs to them after they had used theirs in the first half, we also ask the ref's to be more lenient on some of their errors to help the Hammerheads compete.

Our last game of the weekend was by far our best performance even though we lost to the North East Bulls, who were joint league winners. As few as 10 bad passes cost us the game showing the need for all to attend training more often. Having said that the over all effort shown by the five players was outstanding, I think they ALL left their hearts out on the court by the end of the game and as their coach I was proud to see such effort put into a game. A quote from the Bulls captain " you made us work dam hard for that we had to keep our top players on all the game".

A big thank you to ALL our bench staff who as usual work tirelessly to keep this team going and to my assistant Keith who's advice is greatly valued.

Roll on the Nationals in May.
